Florida State Association of Occupational Health Nurses Fellowship Award


Cheryl Gustafson, RN
The induction to Florida State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (FSAOHN) Society Fellow is the most distinguished award the association has to bestow on one of its members.
The designation carries with it significant and sustained notable contributions to the discipline of nursing, the practice area of occupational health, and involvement as a political activist or political catalyst for change for the discipline of nursing and/orthe practice of occupational health nursing.
This honor was established by the 2011 Board of Directors through an initial endowment by friends of the association.

Marianne Mika, RN,BSHCS, COHN, CMCN, CCM

Her cumulative effort and achievements are numerous from holding
volunteer offices within the organization to ensuring recognition comes
back to the organization on a state, local and national level, to
improving her company bottom line, Marianne is not one to just do the
minimum requirements.  She is a true leader and promoter of OHN’s,
the organization and the advancement of both. Marianne has been
cheerleader, mentor, leader and champion of the cause and always does so
in a willing can do attitude and true caring manner.

Charlotte Baratta, RN, MHEd.

This nurse developed the process to
maintain and update the medical guidelines used as the foundation of
decision making for a client with over 50,000 employees. These guidelines
direct all decisions regarding medical clearance for employment
Utilizing these medical guidelines, she has developed both a best
practice manual for nursing staff and an automated help line for
prospective candidates to better understand what is needed to complete
the process and meet the medical guidelines

Laura Murphy, RN, BSN

Laura has successfully moved through the
ranks of staff nurse to now director over 9 projects with 100 staff
members and 1000 clinical site contracts. She demonstrates how the
nursing process applied to corporate challenges provides an organized,
objective structure to implement change and influence productivity. Her
nursing skills not only catapulted her to the forefront of the company,
but has added value to all the nursing positions in the company.

Kathy Senior, RN, BSN, MN, COHN-S
Kathy is one of those people who is always there to help before
you know you need her. She is extremely active with her chapter by
finding providers and sponsors for their events and meetings. She works
with the local migrant farm workers in Orange County and fosters the
Central Florida Chapters Christmas give back program.
Kathy is also the chapter “goodwill ambassador” and will be the one
taking other members to appointments and performing “well-being’ checks
on members who are ill. Kathy has been an active member for over 25
years.

This provider has had a very successful program in the South Florida
region that is now expanding across the street. The on-site and office
programs are individually tailored for each employer to ensure their
employees are taken care of utilizing the proper ergonomic techniques and
job understanding to ensure ultimate employee return to work and rehab
success. 
OM Scheduling Inc. Mari & Ozzie Diaz, Operators. This provider is a trend setter in identifying workers’ compensation providers that are first class and understand the needs of the employer. They have identified key providers in many areas across Florida and have brought much success to many employers’ workers’ compensation programs. As well, they provide an extremely successful CE
program assisting organizations with locating and sponsoring many educational events.

This employer serves 24,000 associates with 38 total nurses and 12 AHNMs saving the company
millions of dollars each year. The integrative on-site and telephonic
nurse program has been a trend setter in workers’ compensation programs.
The company is now piloting a very successful ARNP program to provide
personal on-site care in the Florida market soon to spread across the
