Fort Lauderdale Florida Association of Occupational Health Nurses (FLFAOHN)
FORT LAUDERDALE FLORIDA CHAPTER
Serving occupational health nurses in Southeast/ Southwest, Florida.
Local chapters are the foundation of the national association (AAOHN) to unite members around common interests and professional issues. Our chapter works to connect members with each other through regular meetings, networking functions, and educational opportunities. We recently successfully amended our bylaws to include all licensed nurses engaged in the practice of occupational and environmental health nursing. Our purpose, beyond networking and promoting continuing education and professional development, is to maintain integrity and character in the nursing profession and to promote the scope of practice and standards for occupational and environmental health nurses. It is also our goal to participate in health policy through monitoring and influencing state legislation and regulation to promote our specialty and profession. There are a myriad of opportunities within this organization for nurses at all levels (LPNs, RNs, APNs) to develop leadership skills, whether you chose to "lead behind the scenes" or in a more direct leadership role. We invite you to participate in the development of your personal and professional development as you support this chapter!
